Strengthened ties to local neighborhood associations through stronger committment to Community Policing

Initiated efforts to bring Information and Referral Services "211" system to Wayne County

Established the Wayne County Diversity Council

Broadened police bicycle patrols in Richmond by increasing the number of officers who underwent a professional
Bike Patrol Training Program (hosted locally)

Faced tough decisions regarding improving the infrastructure in Richmond:
*After 20 years of avoidance, the sewer problems in southwest Richmond were finally being repaired.
*Implemented the strategic replacement of handicapped accessible curbs in Richmond
*Resolved the many neglected problems within and around the city building... leaking basement

Implemented Crisis Intervention Training "CIT" for Richmond Police and area law enforcement. This training has
now been hosted 3 times in Richmond to certify public safety personnel in dealing with our citizens who have
mental health issues. In many cases in the past, this would have meant jail time, but now alternatives are often found
that result in proper treatment and care.

Encouraged and supported area art interest groups to come together, resulting in the Art Fusion Group.
